ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST

TERRADON is seeking an Environmental Scientist or Biologist with demonstrated experience and knowledge with Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Wetland Delineations, and Waters of the U.S. determinations. Experience should include property due diligence projects focused on commercial real estate. The position will primarily work from the corporate headquarters office in Poca, WV reporting to the Geo-Environmental Department.

Duties and Responsibilities: Ideal candidate will have experience with commercial real estate transactions including environmental due diligence, environmental reviews, state and federal regulatory programs, field investigations, and a general understanding of real estate lending and transactions. Successful candidate will have superior writing, time management, and organizational skills and the ability to independently perform environmental tasks on a variety of public and private projects. Key tasks include drafting proposals and work plans, leading document preparation in a team environment, performing wetland delineations, and participating in client meetings to support the planning, design, and approval of site improvements for land development projects. Position includes a mix of technical writing and some field work for site visits throughout WV. The position will involve periodic travel between our offices, typically 1-3 days per trip on a bi-monthly basis. Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, or a related earth science field.
  • 0-5 years of experience assessing wetlands/streams and various property types investigations with progressive responsibility.
  • Experience in evaluating environmental regulatory cases such as AST, UST, LUST, State Hazardous Wastes, CERCLIS, and NPL sites is expected, as well as a solid working knowledge of ASTM 1527-13.
  • Familiarity with wetland delineations, USACE 404 rules and waters of the US. Delineation in accordance with the Army Corps Manual and Regional Supplements
  • Excellent writing skills are a must, along with the ability to compile reports electronically for delivery to the client.
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter, resourceful, and have the ability to work productively on multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines.
  • Experience with Phase II Subsurface Investigations and/or Remediation Work is a plus.
  • Current asbestos inspector, and/or lead-based paint certification also a plus.
  • Candidate should be able and willing to work outside for extended periods in varying weather conditions consistent with company health and safety protocols.
  • GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER

    TERRADON Corporation is seeking a full-time Geotechnical Engineer. The position will primarily work from the corporate headquarters office in Poca, WV reporting to the Geo-Environmental Department.

    Job Duties

  • Executing geotechnical engineering projects from start to finish
  • Developing field exploration and laboratory testing plans for geotechnical engineering investigations
  • Preparing proposals for geotechnical engineering services
  • Coordinating/managing field investigations
  • Sampling and logging soils and rock during field investigations
  • Research, engineering analysis and preparation of geotechnical engineering reports
  • Tracking budgets and schedule to ensure project requirements are met
  • Review of foundation plans and grading plans for conformance with geotechnical engineering investigation reports
  • Collaborating with various other consultants including civil engineers, structural engineers, architects and construction managers
  • Core work hours will be Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm with overtime as needed
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering (MS preferred).
  • WV Professional Engineering License
  • 5 to 15 years of experience.
  • Working knowledge of soil mechanics theory and laboratory testing techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills including CADD, Microsoft Office
  • Possess an outgoing and positive attitude, are dependable and meet all assigned project deadlines.
  • Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
  • LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT - EXPERIENCED

    TERRADON Corporation is seeking a full-time Project Designer with 5-15 years’ experience in Landscape Architecture or Civil Engineering to join its staff near Charleston, WV. The position will primarily work from the corporate headquarters office in Poca, WV reporting to the Land Planning and Development Department.

    TERRADON is a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm that provides services throughout West Virginia. This position will serve as a core support role in the Land Planning and Development Department, interacting with project design professionals, project managers, and periodically accompany senior staff to client meetings as appropriate.

    A Civil Engineering or Landscape Architecture degree from a four-year accredited institution is required. Candidates should have experience in and/or possess the following skills:

  • AUTOCAD capabilities

The position will primarily work from the corporate headquarters office in Poca, WV, reporting to the Land Planning and Development Department.
