WVDOT 311 Bridge Replacement

TERRADON Corporation was contracted to develop construction plans for the deck replacement of the existing 311 bridge in Greenbrier County, WV. The project included design and preparation of contract plans and related documents for the rehabilitation of the existing 311 Bridge, which carries WV 311 over I-64.

In addition to the deck replacement, the profile had to be raised to accommodate new standards requiring a thicker deck compared to the original construction.  The cross slope of the bridge also had to be revised to bring the project up to current standards.

These factors complicated the design, and TERRADON was also asked to add crash walls along the existing piers to protect the piers from vehicle collision. Maintenance of traffic included provisions for closing the existing bridge for 30 days during the deck replacement.
