TERRADON served as the Construction Management Representative (CMR) for an American with Disability Act (ADA) upgrade project located at Cape Lookout National Seashore near Harkers Island, North Carolina.

Working through the National Parks Service, TERRADON placed a full-time CMR at the park November 2019 to a project deadline of April 2020.  The project included daily coordination between the contractor and owner, where the CMR performed quality control/quality assurance tasks and documented and reported deficiencies.

The project included a modification of a fixed pier near the Cape Lookout Lighthouse.  Through this modification an existing pier was demolished and replaced with a larger more accessible pier and floating dock.  The increase in size and style of the pier is to allow better accessibility for ferry services and pedestrian traffic that meets ADA standards.  TERRADON’s CMR provided day to day contract observation on behalf of the owner, the National Parks Service and the Denver Service Center.  The CMR recommended acceptance or rejection of work to the owner and coordinated responses to requests for information (RFI).  Additionally, TERRADON reviewed and coordinated all submittal responses, prepared draft request for proposals, recommended pay request approvals/denials, and conducted weekly construction meetings and minutes.

The CMR assisted with the coordination of project close-out (punch lists, substantial completion, occupancy, etc), ensured safe construction practices, and prepared additional paperwork and documentation as needed including daily reports and independent owner estimates.
